KURAMA - LIVE IN JAPAN
CD NOW AVAILABLE

Recorded live in Osaka, Japan

On October 25, 2008, Francesco performed a special one night only show at Jazz On Top, Osaka's premier music venue in the Umeda-Kita business district. The concert was promoted by Shalestone Music Productions and recorded live by Duane Levi.

The trio was put together especially for the event: from left to right, Francesco Crosara (piano), Yasushi Gonjo (acoustic bass), Larry Marshall (drums).

World Jazz Trio: Yasushi Gonjo (Japan), Francesco Crosara (Italy), Larry Marshall (United States). Representing three nations, three continents, and three heritages blending in the magic of jazz music.

Each musician a virtuoso in his own right, the trio came together effortlessly and blended their own individual styles to bring an inspired performance to the Japanese public.

The repertoire consisted of two thirds jazz standards and one third originals by Francesco, including a brand new suite entitled "Kurama", inspired by a mystical mountain and Buddhist temple north of Kyoto.

Yasushi Gonjo, a young bass prodigy living in Osaka brought an intense spirit to the concert, especially during a rubato tour-de-force solo on "Maiden Voyage", the Herbie Hancock classic.

Rounding up the trio, drummer Larry Marshall brought his experience and sensibility to a higher plane. Originally from Philadelphia, Larry has been a resident of Japan since the mid-90s. he has performed with jazz greats Freedie Hubbard, Richie Cole and Donald Byrd. Larry felt extremely comfortable with all the styles that characterized the performance, from fast driving be-bop, to complex jazz latin, to grooving blues and delicate ballads.

The evening added a new dimension with a guest appearance by Japanese vocalist Chiaki, who performed two great ballads: "I Got It Bad" and "A Time For Love"
